Fear will distract you from accomplishing your goals. But don’t let it derail you.
I’m Dr. Ty with Port Bell SEO. This may seem like a strange subject for me to talk about, but I’ve studied counseling and coaching for over 10 years. In fact, my doctorate is in Leadership and Life Coaching. And, as a business coach, I have helped several CEO’s use this technique to help remove fear and change the negative scripts they have. Do you have a negative script running in your head?
What is your fear? Are you afraid to fail, or afraid to succeed? Do you worry that you will look like a fool? Or that you will spend all your money on yet another useless project? Or maybe it’s something else.
(a little caveat. I’m making the assumption that you are a relatively mentally healthy person that doesn’t need counseling. If fear controls your life, I highly recommend you seek counseling. A good counselor may be able to help you with that).
So, your thoughts create your reality. If fear is stopping you from being as successful as you could be, it’s possible that you are creating that fear with your thoughts.
Your mind will work to accomplish whatever goal you set before it. Now, that doesn’t mean you can think “I’m a millionaire” and it’ll happen if you don’t truly believe it. That’s where your thoughts come in. Do you imagine negative situations? Remember, your mind will work to accomplish any goal you give it. And, the stronger the emotion linked to that goal, the more your mind will work toward it.
The next time something negative comes to mind, visualize it. Not the negative part. When the negative comes to mind, tell yourself something like “That’s the old me. The new me is a more positive person.” Or “that’s how I used to be, but not anymore.” Let your brain get used to the new you.
Then visualize the situation being positive. If it’s a conversation between two people, imagine both of you getting along and having a good time.
Or visualize a business meeting being very successful. The person you are talking to is calm and relaxed with a smile on his or her face. You shake hands and the meeting comes to a successful close with a signature or agreement that you are both happy with.
You can also visualize getting important work done and leaving the “busy work” for another day or another person.
Let’s say you procrastinate because of fear like constantly doing “busy work that gets you no closer to your goals, being a perfectionist or whatever it may be. change the script in your head. Visualize what you want to do, visualize the positive outcome. Imagine yourself happily doing it and completing it successfully.
Now, don’t get me wrong. This is not a quick fix, and the change may not be fast. But keep it up and you will see that, over time, more positive things will start to happen.
Have a fantastic day! Do you have a friend that could use this? Share it with them!
