Welcome to Episode 50 of the easy SEO and more podcast! I am so excited, I never thought I’d make 50 episodes. Actually, I never thought I’d make one at the beginning of this year.

As a special bonus for Episode 50, I have five steps to making 2022 your best marketing year ever.

And here’s the best part: Each and every one of these five steps, if you’ve been listening to this podcast consistently, are nothing new to you.

Here’s why: I did a live presentation on marketing a few years ago. One of the people in the audience came up to me at the end of the presentation, and he very frankly told me: “I really wish you would have told me something that I hadn’t heard before.”

That could be a downer to some speakers, but I turned it around on him almost immediately and I said,

“Maybe you’ve heard it all before. But the question is, have you done anything with it? Have you applied it? Have you used it in your business?”

I was probably being a bit too blunt; I do that sometimes. And maybe I was being too blunt that time because he didn’t reply to me at all, he just turned around and walked away. I’m thinking I didn’t make a friend that day, but I’m not here to be your friend.

In all honesty, I’m here to help you with your marketing, to make 2022 to your best marketing year, ever. So I’m going to ask you the same thing as I go through these five steps. Maybe you’ve heard them all before from me. In fact, each one is from a past episode.

But have you applied them yet? Are you using them, all of them? Even if you’re using one of them, please let me know, I want to hear your success stories, Click here to contact me. If you’re not using them and you’re having trouble using them. I also do some coaching. So give me a holler and let me know that you’re interested in coaching, and I’ll talk to you more about that.

Now, without further ado:

Step one of the five steps to make 2022 your best marketing year ever.

Write down your business vision for the next 12 months, I just talked about business vision in episode 48.

And by the way, these five steps are in order of importance, literally the most important thing you can do is do your business vision for the next 12 months. Where do you want to be in December of 2022 that you’re not right now? Make it a stretch but don’t make it too much of a stretch, you don’t want it to be impossible to get there. But don’t say “Oh, I want to do business the exact same way that I’m doing now.”

Figure out a path of growth. And in Episode 48, I talk a lot more about that. So go there if you’re interested in finding out more about how to design a written vision for your company.

Step two, your website.

Your website is the cornerstone of all of your marketing. Not social media, not anything else; your website. It’s extremely important to get that done right. Maybe you run a very small business right now and you don’t have the budget to get a WordPress website designed for you.

Id you’re using Wix, Square Pages, or another free option, start getting that budget created. Chances are it’s not going to be that difficult to come up with the money.

It’s really not that much money to have your own website designed, especially in the long run, because you’re going to be getting higher in the search engines, which means that you’re going to be getting more customers.

So, the money that you spend on a website will probably pay for itself in the next 12 months. I talk a lot more about how to get your website done right in episode 49.

Step three, engaging content.

In episode 41. I talked about how to write engaging content yourself. However, maybe you’re not comfortable with that. And if you’re not, hire SEO content writers to go over your existing content and give suggestions, or even to go over and rewrite it.

And yes, at Port Bell we are SEO content writers, so feel free to contact us or contact another company if you have a good relationship with another SEO company; No worries either way.

Step four, start or be more consistent with your blog posts.

This is a tough one, and I talked about it in Episode 45: How to make money using your blog. But here’s a little trick. Go to Google Trends. Google Trends talks about the latest trends that are going on. You could use a current trend and insert what your business is doing into that trend, and do a blog post about it. That way, you’re going to be talking about what are the latest trends, which people are looking for, and your business at the same time, which means it’s even more likely that that blog post or webpage will get even higher into the search engines. So go to Google Trends to get ideas, and go to Episode 45 to learn how to make money using your blog posts.

Step five, get your title and meta tag descriptions done right.

These are extremely important, they can be the first thing that people see when they look for your company, because this is what pops up. When people get results. When you get results in Google, Yahoo, Bing, whatever it might be. The title tag is the is the ballpark that you see on search results in the descriptions right underneath that. So episode 42 talks about title tags and doing that right, and also gives you an idea of where to find them in WordPress. If you’re using Wix or another one, you may have to try to find it yourself.

But all of them should have a way for you to be able to put your own title tag and description in there. And descriptions I talked about in episode 47.

These two are so important. And once again, like I said, if you listen to Easy SEO and More consistently, then you know that this is nothing new.

But are you doing it? Are you doing all of it?

And the most important thing is the vision. See in 2020, I wrote down my vision for that year, and that was before COVID hit. And some of you who’ve been listening to this consistently know that when COVID hit, I also had open heart surgery. And so 2020 was a very difficult year for me. I had to redo my entire vision as I recovered from open heart surgery, got back into the swing of things.

I wrote a brand new vision in 2021, and part of my vision was doing podcasts. I had no idea what would happen when I did a podcast and I frankly, didn’t really want to do it.

You have to be consistent when you do blog posting or podcasts. You have to be there every single week, you’ve got to show up all the time, especially when you have guests. Working with guests can be difficult sometimes. And as you know, I don’t have many, but I do have a few guests.

But I decided to do it. And one of the things that I realized was the biggest joy with doing this podcast is that I get to give back to you and help my fellow business owners get your business stronger, more profitable, even with everything that’s going on.

Yes, I’ve gotten more business out of it. I my revenue has gone up because of it. But even more so the joy of being able to give back to you has just been awesome.

I’m so glad I did this podcast, and I did it because it was part of my vision for 2021. It wasn’t even a goal of my vision to do a podcast, it was a question mark.

So in March of this year, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. And now we’re at 50 episodes.

Thank you all for being with me throughout these 50 episodes. I look forward to the next 50, 60 even 100 more, who knows where this will go. You all take care and I’ll talk to you next week.
