That’s right, today’s episode is about how you can set everything up to where you will never get hacked again, ever.
Hackers depend on one thing; they depend on you using the same email and the same password for every account that you have.
So when they find one email and password, they start going after your bank accounts, they start going after all of your social media accounts; they go after everything they possibly can.
And yes, it is a major pain in the A$$, but it will stop hackers in their tracks. They may get one account, but they probably wont get more than one. That’s the thing, because if they don’t know what your email address, they’ll keep popping in that email address into everywhere. So, if your email addresses is separate, they won’t even know that you’re using a different email address, they’ll just know that what they’re doing is not working; they’ll assume that they need to find a different password and they’ll keep trying different passwords and different combinations of the same password. But they won’t even think to try different email addresses.
Even if you don’t have a login that doesn’t require an email address, use different logins. I’m going to I’m going to pick on my dogs because I don’t use those for any of my logins. Let’s say your normal login is your name or something other than an email address; use two your dog’s names or cat’s names or pick two things around you. Pick television and light, there’s your login.
Here’s the strange thing that I don’t get: It’s in the news almost monthly now that a company has been hacked and millions of email accounts and passwords have been leaked out. And yet free things like Firefox and other browsers have a way where you can save your password. And it’s so secure that hackers can’t seem to hack that.
I don’t understand why companies can’t use that technology. It can’t be expensive, because here we have free things that are doing it. Firefox has no major affiliations with big companies, and yet they have a hacker resistant app.
I’ve never heard anything about Firefox or Edge or Google Chrome or any of those ever being hacked for their passwords. Anyway, you can put your password into those, and then you have your password wherever you go as long as you have the same account.
Personally, I use Firefox. I’m kind of big on independent people. And they even have a thing called Lockwise on your cell phone that you can keep all of your passwords as well. And it links to your Firefox account on your computer. So, you always have your passwords. Even if you’re using a different browser on your phone, you at least have the the app on your phone from Firefox that gives you all of your passwords.
So there are good ways of keeping track of all that. When you have different email addresses and different passwords for every account, there’s no way you’re going to remember it; you’ve got to use something to keep track. I know some people use LastPass. I use the Firefox stuff, other people use the Google Chrome to keep track of their passwords. Whatever you do, just make sure it’s secure.
But that’s the trick to never getting hacked again. Well, it’s not never getting hacked, of course; it’s limiting the hackers. They might grab your Facebook account, but they’re not going to grab your Instagram account if your Instagram is separate from your Facebook account. They’re not going to grab your Twitter account or get into your bank accounts. And that’s a huge one.
Most of the bank accounts that I I go to don’t even use your email address, you have to have a username and I like that because that way the hackers have to guess your username. Use a different username, maybe put your first name and your wife’s first name, which might be a common thing, but maybe put a number in between the two. Maybe the the year you guys got married or the year your child was born or something like that right in between the two first names. That way it makes it a lot more difficult.
And yeah, like I said, it is a pain in the rear to keep track of all this. But remember 30 years ago, the number one way that you could hack somebody else’s computer would be to look underneath their keyboard for the password, because they put their passwords on post it notes underneath their keyboard or in the drawer right next to them.
Now, the number one way is hackers in a different country, guessing what your login and your password are. I’ll say it’s that way 99% of the time. There’s nobody coming into your office or your desk or whatever that is, and actually looking for a password.
Even if you use something like an Excel spreadsheet, password protect the spreadsheet. If you use Firefox, make sure that you have a secure password on your Firefox account or your Google Chrome account that you use. Make that the most secure password and least obvious password. And then make sure all of your other passwords are listed in there.
I hope this helped you out. I know this has nothing to do with SEO but I’ve been seeing a lot about people being hacked lately. So hopefully this will help you.
Have a great day and I’ll talk to you next time.
