Conflict is never an issue until other people get involved. But since people all think differently, there can be conflict even when two people agree on an issue.
One way to lower tension during conflict is to agree with the other person; and it is easier than it sounds. There are ways to agree without giving up your position, such as:
“You have a right to feel that way,” or “you seem upset.” Sometimes all it takes to turn a situation from conflict to conversation is to let the other person know that they are being heard.
